The Mazi Project

Hello to our lovely group, we hope you are all doing well and that summer is going to arrive fairly soon. Fingers  crossed.

This week our nomination is from one of our newer members, Mandy and it’s her first one. We are continuing with the theme of community help and the nomination speaks for itself.

Isn’t it wonderful that these charities exist and people take time to help out every week, we knew we wanted to help immediately.

It’s especially poignant as I’m writing this nomination up from Greece and Mazi means ‘together’ in Greek.

This is the Nomination.

I have been volunteering this year for a fantastic charity called The Mazi Project which delivers fantastic fresh food recipe kit boxes to 16-25 year olds in Bristol every week ( care leavers, refugees etc) so when you have a spare slot I’d love to nominate them.

The charity delivers food boxes with three lovely recipes to cook every week, to 16-25 year olds affected by food  poverty.

I had a quiet autumn and winter workwise and had been following the progress of this new charity, so I decided to volunteer.

I spent most Tuesdays while I was off packing delicious recipe boxes and delivering to young people.

It’s been amazing to see the charity growing, getting their own premises and van.

The aim is to build a community kitchen and deliver to many more young people ( it’s about 80 per week at the moment)

I love the positivity and enthusiasm everyone that volunteers and works for the Mazi Project and will definitely return when I finish this crazy job.

Thank you

Mandy
