Izzy’s Friend

Joe Sims

Morning all! You may or may not know that there are 10 completely autonomous groups using the 500 Reasons model that we came up with 8 years ago that are all doing incredible things up and down the UK and as far afield as Ukraine and Ghana. One of these groups is called Help Club and they’re based in South Wales. One of their nominations was so pressing and heartbreaking we felt compelled to join forces and help Izzy as quickly as we could. Thank you so much for your continued generosity that allows us to support Izzy’s friend immediately

Izzy’s Story

Izzy is trying to raise money for one of her friends who has had to take full custody of her 4 children after finding out that they had been secretly suffering abhorrent abuse at the hands of their father. The courts have ordered that the mother take all the 4 children into immediate sole custody or they will be forced into care.

They are now living together with their mum in a small 2 bed flat. The kids are aged 2-10.

Following the sudden full time custody of the children, the mother’s partner (who isn’t the kids’ dad) has moved out and left them as he is unable to handle the change.

The job centre has also warned the mother that they won’t be able to transfer the benefits to the mother from the father for some time due to paperwork and legalities.

They’re fundraising to be able to provide for the tiny flat, buying cleaning supplies, timber for furniture and more beds and decorating supplies.

The local community and volunteer tradespeople have rallied around and will take the materials and transform the flat for the children.
